Laptop Shoulder Bag DIY

Laptop Shouder Bag On Laptop Should Bag with Supplies

I don’t know about you, but I get tired of juggling my laptop in hand back and forth from the office along with the ten other things that I tend to carry to and from work as well.  Basically, I have a crap load of stuff to carry so I decided to make a cross body laptop bag to carry my most important commodity.  Here are the materials and step by step instructions.  Enjoy!

Materials:

1 yard of canvas material
1 yard of standard material (for liner)
leather belt
quilting thread
large sewing needle
button

Instructions:

  1. Measure 4 rectangle panels; 1 canvas and 1 standard material should be 6-8 inches longer than the other two (for the flap).
  2. Sew canvas on three sides.
  3. Sew liner material on three sides.
  4. Turn material on the correct sides and sew the liner into the canvas at the top edges.
  5. Fold together a 4-5 inch slender strip of material, sew together and then sew into the middle top of the flap to make a loop.
  6. Buckle belt and cut in half.
  7. Thread large sewing needle with quilting thread and sew belt on each side of the bag.
  8. Sew button on the front in the spot where the loop falls.

The Bag Sewing Project

I have had so much fun making these heavy duty canvas bags. Each bag is created using a heavy-weight canvas material. The bags are completely lined with a nice, thick cotton material. I created each bag with a leather shoulder strap. The off-white bag is designed so that it can be grabbed by your side by the two small canvas handles or used as an across body style bag with the leather strap. The brown bag fits a laptop along with other items very nice and is carried by a double leather strap. These bags are durable, large and fun. All the bags are made and designed by myself and handmade with care.

I had so much fun making these bags that I decided to add them as made to order options in my Etsy store. Click here to check them out… {mamanellie designs}. I would love to know what you think. Enjoy!

DIY Crochet and Denim Purse

Camo & Denim Purse On Camo & Denim Purse Hanging Camo & Denim Side View
I like trying new things. I thought it would be fun to make an item using two very different materials.  I decided to mix a crochet piece with denim.  To make this bag you simply need crochet thread, a crochet needle (size G), a button and a strip of denim (I used an old pair of my sons jeans). Here are the simple steps below.  Enjoy!

Instructions:

  1. Crochet the back panel – chain 60 then double crochet 12 rows.
  2. Crochet the front panel – chain 40 then double crochet 12 rows.
  3. Lay the front panel on top of the back panel and double crochet around two sides and bottom and turn right side out.
  4. Sew your denim strip closed then attach to each side of the purse sewing on by hand.
  5. Make the loop closure by crocheting a chain stitch to the center/top of the back panel.
  6. Hand sew button to the front panel
