My name is Nell.  I am married to my high school sweetheart and the love of my life.  We have been together over 20 years and have two amazing kids.

I have an extreme affinity for the water.  I have lived near the water my entire life.  The ocean is my happy place.  Paddleboarding is my favorite and I try to get out on the ocean every chance I get.

The most important things in my life are my marriage and children. Navigating life can be difficult at times. In marriage you take two imperfect people and throw them in the same house and then add two crazy kids with teenage hormones. You try to figure out each day how to do life together well (most of the time).

This is our story of how we make it all work with God’s blessings and God’s grace.

*side note – the name mamanellie was my original AIM name when instant messenger first came out in the 90’s.  It has stuck with me ever since.

    • It is very nice to meet you also.

That is too funny! Yes we got married young and had kids young. All odds were against us but we’ve been together 20 years and are happier than ever. We are truly more blessed than words can say!

      • Hey Nell,

How funny is that? Odds were against us too. Because our backgrounds were so different, family said that our marriage wouldn’t last 6 months. Ha! Well I guess we showed them! Who has egg on their face now? I guess it’s true about how opposites attract.

    • Hey, Lauren! It has been such a long time. I am doing great. My husband and I just made 16 years of marriage and we have 2 teenage children. So good to hear from you! Hope all is well with you. 🙂

  1. I didn’t marry my high school sweetheart, but we had more “differences” than most. She had kids; I’d never been married. We also differed in age, region of origin, city-vs.-country, religious upbringing, and education. That was more than 32 years ago, and we’re still incredibly happy together; hence my latest project, intended as a surprised for our 33rd anniversary: http://lovesongs4joanna.wordpress.com/.

    • With so many marriages failing today, its great to hear of these successes. It sounds like your marriage made it through against all the odds, just as mine did. Congrats to you and your wife as well!

  2. Hi – The image (link below)
Is this your image? Id like to use it on a series of adwords banners for a small recruitment campaign as I think it captures the essence of the type of people we look to employ, would you object to us using it?
