The Teenagers are Gone

This is the time of year when my teenagers go off to stay with my parents in California. At this point they’ve been gone exactly 2 weeks. This summer, the trip is going to be a bit longer and it will include three weekends away. And they are having a blast! They’ve been camping, riding on boats, a trip to LA, a trip to Hollywood, they’ve seen celebrity homes, and a professional baseball game. They have been wined and dined and have gotten the royal treatment from my parents. Needless to say I’m not exactly sure if they want to come back home. I’m just really glad they’re having such a great time. This gives them the perfect opportunity to connect with their grandparents.

On the flipside of this, my husband and I have had the opportunity to spend a lot of time together and to reconnect with each other. We have spent every moment together for two full weeks and I have to say that it’s been amazing. We have totally reconnected. It just makes me realize how much I love him. I love him more and more each year. This time, when my children are gone, are sad yet very invaluable to me and my husband. Many people struggle after their children leave the house. It just makes me realize how awesome our life will be when our children are gone.
